TYPES OF THERAPY

  1. Individual Psychotherapy
    Play therapy is aimed at children with behavioural problems, anxiety disorders and/or difficulty coping at home/school. Therapy provided for teenagers deal with harmful behaviours like self-harm or suicidality, managing bullying, addressing issues like low self-esteem and building self-worth. Individual therapy for adults address mental illness, daily life stressors, unhealthy patterns of behvaiour, difficulty in relationships and developing one's self-concept/worth. Sessions are 45minutes in length for children and 50minutes in length for adults and teenagers.
  2. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
    DBT aims to teach people to create a healthy balance of emotion and rational thinking, to manage difficult moments in the short term in order to gain a sense of mastery and self-respect in the long term. DBT aims to help people develop awareness and insight into their emotions, reduce the rate of acting out impulsively, change patterns of behaviour that are not helpful (e.g. self-harm, suicidal ideation and substance abuse) and develop healthy relationships by communicating clearly and effectively without using manipulation or control. DBT is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and follows principles of Mindfullness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness. It is provided in group and individual therapy.
  3. Couple Counselling or Family Therapy
    Therapy provided for couples or families aim to address issues on a relational level like conflict, infidelity, communication, boundaries and adjustments to changes like loss, divorce or remarrying. It is usually 60 minutes in length.


FEES & PAYMENT
 

Fees are charged at medical aid rates to keep costs at a minimum. The practice is however a cash practice which means that it is your responsibility to settle the costs at all times. You will then be invoiced and depending on your medical aid you will be reimbursed accordingly. Please note that you may be charged if your appointment is not cancelled within 24 hours of cancellation.
